"WOW! People in Bay City are still buzzing with excitement over the Bay City Chamber’s recent membership drive. 158 new members in just two days, how fantastic is that? Having spent twelve years in the Chamber profession before trading up or trading down depending on your point of view to my new position, I held the belief that membership drives were something that just needed to be done, sort of like going to the dentist. Boy, “Your Chamber Connection” changed my mind. From the first pre-planning stages, to the actual drive, up until the Wrap-Up Event, never once was there a dull, boring or uneventful moment. The meeting with Jimmy prior to the actual sales campaign was just phenomenal; even I learned things about the Chamber. All in all, it was a great experience. As Mayor I was not looking forward to giving up three hours of my time but it went by rather quickly, plus I recruited three members during my shift. Kudos to you both for an outstanding job that you do for all chambers across the country. The spirited competition certainly added to the drive. "After having worked with Jimmy and Your Chamber Connection for three events already, I thought I had seen everything! However, when I went to a new Chamber, I brought Jimmy in to do a membership event, knowing his emphasize on retention as well as recruitment. What resulted exceed my expectations. Jimmy took a room full of volunteers who had lost the enthusiasm for the Chamber, and energized, motivated and inspired them to get involved and stay involved with the Chamber. He was able to tell the Chamber story from a different perspective, and make it valuable for them. The best part was that every single person involved in the event was having fun, even the whiners! When it's all said and done, my volunteers are still talking about how much fun the Chamber is now, and are still razzing each other in the community and talking about how they are going to do things next time. From a management standpoint, the increase in membership numbers and revenue is great, but the biggest prize is the renewed interest from the current members. It's not something we could have done on our own.”
